Dee Parker has spent the majority her life in Jacksonville, but is originally from Sierra Leone, West Africa. Her parents were in Sierra Leone at the start of a horrible ten year civil war, and came to America as refugees. Watching the determination of her parents is what drives Dee to do her very best in all aspects of her life. She believes that education is the key to success, and that her decision to matriculate into the University of North Florida class of 2022 after graduating high school in the spring of 2018 is one of the best decisions that she has ever made.
In only her first semester, she gained a position as a court justice in the UNF Student Government, a position on the African Students Association executive board, a scholar observer spot at the UF Shands Hospital department of surgery and a job as an emergency room medical scribe at the Baptist Medical Center. Dee believes that involvement in an array of activities promotes well roundness as an individual and the ability to work with others. She intends to use the platform that she builds in undergrad to inflict change in the community.
After receiving her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing, she plans on pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in the specialty of Psychiatric-Mental Health. She is specifically drawn to the field of medicine because she feels there is an alarming lack of awareness in regards to this field. After practicing medicine for fifteen to twenty years, she plans on launching her political career by running for a seat in the United States Senate. Ms. Dee Parker is extremely ecstatic to serve as the Social Media Chairwoman for the UNF Black Alumni Association.
Rodrica comes from Stone Mountain, GA and is currently a student at UNF, with an expected graduation date of fall 2019. Majoring in communication with a minor in business management, we are excited that Rodrica has agreed to come on to the team in a support role to Social Media Chair, Dee Parker. She will be working alongside Dee to grow the BAAs footprint in our current social media platforms and examine where there are other opportunities to grow our brand as well.
