About the Jasmin Chaney Guevara Scholarship Fund
The Jasmin Chaney Guevara Scholarship Fund was established by the UNF Black Alumni Association to honor the life, leadership, and legacy of a woman whose love for community knew no bounds. A founding member of the UNF Black Alumni Association Advisory Council, Jasmin played a pivotal role in shaping the direction and mission of the organization, helping lay the foundation for what has become one of the most impactful alumni groups at the University of North Florida.
Jasmin served as the Director of Community Engagement for the Association and was instrumental in forging deep connections between Black alumni and current students. She helped launch the inaugural Black Alumni Week in 2016 and continued to serve in an advisory capacity long after her formal leadership role ended. Her legacy includes countless mentorships, partnerships, and programs that have enriched the lives of Black and Brown students and alumni across the university.
Professionally, Jasmin dedicated over seven years of service to Florida Blue, where she worked as an Operations Supervisor. In this role, she led teams, provided critical support for the company's telecommunications and life safety systems, and embodied professionalism, compassion, and excellence in all she did.
A proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Jasmin lived out the values of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood in every aspect of her life. She was not only a leader and mentor in her professional and alumni roles but also a deeply devoted mother and grandmother. Her commitment to others was evident in every space she occupied—always advocating for equity, always creating space for the voices of those too often unheard.
The Jasmin Chaney Guevara Scholarship Fund is awarded annually to students majoring in healthcare fields, continuing Jasmin’s lifelong dedication to care, advocacy, and community. Her impact on the UNF Black Alumni Association—and on the lives she touched—will never be forgotten. Through this scholarship, her spirit lives on.
